As you are exploring the old town of Chania, make a stop at the tavern ‘Adespoto’ (former ‘Anaplous’), an oasis of flavors and history. In an old mansion, bombed during the battle of Crete in 1940, you will find the best things this land can offer. Traditional Cretan tastes, based on the purest ingredients, are combined in perfect harmony with good homemade wine and traditional ‘tsikoudia’

You can try a variety of dishes such as our excellent ‘kleftiko’, chicken with sun-dried tomato and skim-milk cheese as well as many others, always at affordable prices.

All these you can enjoy in a very picturesque environment where a huge bougainvillea, our trademark, rises above the tavern amongst the beautiful stone mosaics and decorations.

Of course, there can be no fun without music. Every night some of the best musicians of Chania enchant you with some of the most famous melodies from all around Greece.

And for those who love winter holidays, there is winter ‘Adespoto’ right next door, a warm, cosy place with homemade dishes and a small stage for nights full of music.

Even Hollywood was enthusiastic of "Adespoto" and so there have been the shootings to some scenes of Patricia Highsmith's thriller “The Two Faces Of January" in October 2012.

The movie is set in the year 1962 and the suitable location had to get the correct atmosphere, so for three days our tavern was transformed into an old Greek style bar of he early 60's.
The exciting thriller with Kirsten Dunst, Viggo Mortensen and Oscar Isaac in the main cast is set in Athens, Piraeus, Heraklion and Chania and will have its premiere in Paris in December 2013 and then starts in 2014 in all european cinemas. The movie was directed by Hossein Amini, who wrote the sensational storybooks for "Drive" and "Snow White & The Huntsman".

1962. A glamorous American couple, the charismatic Chester MacFarland (Viggo Mortensen) and his alluring younger wife Colette (Kirsten Dunst), arrive in Athens by boat via the Corinthian Canal. While sightseeing at the Acropolis they encounter Rydal (Oscar Isaac), a young, Greek-speaking American who is working as a tour guide, scamming tourists on the side. Drawn to Colette’s beauty and impressed by Chester's wealth and sophistication, Rydal gladly accepts their invitation to dinner. However, all is not as it seems with the MacFarlands and Chester’s affable exterior hides darker secrets. When Rydal visits the couple at their exclusive hotel, Chester presses him to help move the body of a seemingly unconscious man who he claims attacked him. In the moment, Rydal agrees but as events take a more sinister turn he finds himself compromised and unable to pull himself free. His increasing infatuation with the vulnerable and responsive Colette gives rise to Chester’s jealousy and paranoia, leading to a tense and dangerous battle of wits between the two men.
